Tic Tac Poker

Tic-tac-toe meets poker hands. Pick a card, place it on your 3x3 grid and line up pairs, flushes and straights on every row, column and diagonal.

Easy to learn and surprisingly deep: every card you take is a card your rivals won't get.

How it works

Every player has a tic-tac-toe grid of their own. On your turn, take one of the four cards in the middle of the table and place it in an empty space on your grid. Each line of three cards scores if it makes a hand: three rows, three columns and two diagonals, eight lines in all. When the grids are full, the highest score wins.

Order doesn't matter: an ace, a three and a two in the same row still make a straight. And because the center space sits in four lines at once, the right card in the right place can score several hands in one move.

The hands

• Pair: 250 points
• Flush, three cards of the same suit: 400 points
• Straight: 700 points
• Three of a kind: 750 points
• Straight flush: 1,500 points
• Royal flush: 2,500 points

Two special cards

• Joker: place it on your grid and choose the rank and suit it becomes.
• Thief: take a card from a rival's grid and put it on yours. It breaks their hand and can complete yours.

Ways to play

• Grand Tour: 50 stops and 500 matches, from a backyard table to an orbital station and beyond. Every stop changes the rules, with more jokers in some and more thieves in others, and rivals get sharper the further you travel. Win the final match of each stop to open the road ahead.
• Quick Game: 2 to 4 players. Take on up to three AI rivals at five skill levels, from Novice to Legend.
• Play with friends on one device, taking turns, and find out who reads the table best.
• Team mode: you and a friend against two AI rivals, two grids against two.

Rivals with character

AI opponents don't all play the same way. Some go all out for the big hands, some play it safe and block you, and some wait for the perfect moment to steal your best card. Learn their habits and turn them against them.
